#SWEEP PICKING BEGINNER EXERCISES HOW TO#
Have been learning and teaching how to sweep pick for about 10 years now. Now, I just have to synchronize.Hi there, guitar sweep masters. Thinking that made my right hand more smooth. One thing I found was treating my right hand as I'm using a paint brush or a mop. I've been trying to sweep pick for about 2 weeks I got it to 130 bpm but still isn't fast enough I'm still learning to sweep with my right hand How do you cut down on the extra noise? Thank you! Hey Bernth, I am having difficulty getting enough volume and have extra string noise when doing a tap like in Exercise 1. Do you have any suggestions how to go about it? Start from scratch with your lessons or meticuslously practice with a metronome from slow speeds? Thanks. Hey Bernth, I've been using the Sweep Picking Technique for several years now, but I lack doing it to a metronome. I was trying to think of inspiration from an actual song to help guide my practice and couldn't think of anything for a second, and then went, "Oh, duh 40 oz by Polyphia lol." Great videos Bernth! It's almost like you first need to show your hand what it NEEDS to be doing! haha lol It helped me combat the "attack every string" reflex. I found that after messing around with "fake arpeggios" for a day at a speed I really couldn't play cleanly (aka "raking"), I was able to slow it down and the sweep motion actually felt more natural! I actually kick off every sweep practice session by sweeping all strings open without fretting a few times at different tempos just to get my hand in the right frame of mind. I arrived at the exact same conclusions you reached: trying to build up from a slow sweep with a metronome just wasn't getting me used to a proper sweep motion.

Honestly I am so frickin glad I watched this video. Wondering the finger jump feels odd and like it will slow me down when I eventually get faster. It’s a little easier for me to use different fingers for smoothness.

On the 3rd, 4th, 5th notes of first run … 14th fret on each string, are you all using the same finger? Barring on B and G string then jumping (same finger) to D string? It looks like Bernth is doing it in the examples that way. It was supposed to be for beginners, but started as for experts :-\ He says he rolls the finger string to string.
